Here's one last ode to summer. The dress is from French Connection and the crochet sweater underneath is thrifted.
As for real life, I'm just workin' and workin', saving up for a pretty big move (which was originally planned for a while ago, but oh well) and being creative.
Inspiration wise, not much has changed. I've been crushing pretty hard on Brody Dalle, though. Apart from being awesome and inspiring, her voice is just incredible. It's as angry as it is beautiful and as broken as it is ferocious. When she screams, it feels like a firework exploding in the middle of an endless black sky. The first time I heard her scream "Don't GO!" during The Hunger, chills ran up and down my spine. By the third time, I had tears in my eyes and didn't even know why.
All of her work is stellar, whether it's with The Distillers, Spinnerette, or most recently, as a solo artist. It's all awesome and it's all Brody. It has also meant a lot to me during a time I needed it most. I made a mini mix of some of my favourites by her from over the years, as a gateway of sorts for the uninitiated. There's a couple Bikini Kill songs in there as well, since I needed at least 8 songs for 8Tracks. If you'd like, you can listen to it
